Day 24. Down day in Golconda, IL

We hung around under the gray skies and light drizzle along the Ohio River just like these turkey vultures today.
We had 8 days in a row of riding and we were looking for a spot to crash and preferably not waste a good weather day. Today was one of those days.
This is the back view from the levee of the Riverview Mansion where we are staying. Last night we slept like the dead,  had breakfast, took a walk around town napped and mostly just rested and read.
I really enjoy eating in the local places like the Dari Bar where we had lunch today. I find it very cool to watch and listen to the dynamics of the folks, mostly all knowing each other in some form or fashion. I had a big smile on my face today and the Dari Bar was a part of that feeling. By the way the ham and bean soup was excellent!
Mike and Brenda Newby, our daughter in law Mattie's parents, treated us to dinner at the Sweetwater Bar in Golconda. They live about 90 miles away in Fairfield, IL and were so kind to come down to see us for the evening. It was great seeing them again and to have the company.

Tomorrow's forecast looks pretty rainy. Our hope is to find a window where the rain lets up and we can get across the river to Kentucky. Otherwise we will enjoy the Riverview Mansion one more night. 🌧
