7am departure with 5pm arrival at the Rough River State Park. Beautiful day to ride through Kentucky horse country with modest headwinds most of the way. Still a long day with the ups and downs.
Sample of the horses and colorful fields we saw throughout the day.
Most of our route is in common with the Bikecentennial Route made famous for thousands of riders trekking across the US in 1976. We've been seeing these green signs and arrows for the last several days. They help us make the right turns.
John Crofts is a pledge class brother of mine from Rochdale House at Purdue University from back in 1976. He's recently retired from Cummins after 37 years. John spent the last two days riding 150 miles south from his home in Columbus Indiana to join us for the rest of the ride to the Outerbanks. Our tents are set up so now we had a short ride to "Little Daves" for beers and dinner.
