Day 25. Cool, Cloudy & Rain. Marion, KY

11:15am start with 5 o'clock arrival in Marion, KY

We waited until we had a gap in the rain cells that had been raining most of the night and morning. Good bye Riverview Mansion. It was nice hunkering down here for an extra day. 

Headed towards Cave-in-Rock, IL to catch the ferry across the Ohio River to Kentucky. 

Cave-in-Rock was famous for river pirates and bandits as a hide out, right off of the river and just a 1/2 mile from the ferry.

From inside the cave, Angela looks spookier than normal. 

At the end of the cave, about 100 yards in there was a gap in the rock that let in light and rain!

Time for a cup of hot chocolate to warm up before the ferry ride.

Waiting our turn to board the free ferry. 

Say good bye to Illinois. It's been nice riding and visiting but we're ready to move on. 

Hello Bluegrass State. 

We road the 12 miles into Marion with the last 8 miles in a light rain. We had been lucky to that point and only had a few sprinkles every now and then. We found a new low in hotels for the night but we were out of the rain and had a pizza delivered.
